I cannot say enough great things about Jeff, he definitely played a key role in making our wedding such a great success!

Planning an out of town wedding was difficult because we had to find our own vendors & could not go with suggestions that were made by friends of local people they had used. I actually found Jeff by doing a search on the internet, my search brought up a lot of different D.J's so I decided to email quite a few of them and just see who responded. Jeff's response to the email was originally what sold me on him, he was so upbeat & willing to help right from his first email. He was offering to meet us for coffee to discuss our plans, he had song suggestions and his personality was so warm and friendly I felt like I could ask him anything.

He definitely played lots of musical requests, everyone said that he was very open to requests & he would play it quite quickly after it was requested.

He also took a list from us of what we wanted played and whenever he would play one of those songs he would announce that it was something that we had requested and it was a good tip for me to hear if it was something I was really hoping to dance to so that if I was off talking to someone I could make my way back to the dance floor and I didn't miss out on anything.

He also did a great job talking to the crowd. I have been to weddings where the D.J.'s talk way too much and they talk in a fashion which is not necessarily representative of the bride & the groom & not in a fashion that they would want to have their guests talked to. But Jeff had the perfect amount of interaction with the crowd and he definitely was not one of those D.J's who kept going on and on. He comes off as someone who is very experienced and very confident in what he does so he excels at being in the public eye.

Another great thing about Jeff was that he likes to learn people's names and people were commenting on how good of a job our "friend" was doing & I had to keep telling them that we didn't know him before the wedding & that he was learning people's names on his own. My father in law is still impressed that Jeff knew his name as soon as he arrived & that he called him by his first name the entire night, it definitely makes things more personal that way.

I think what I liked best is the person that he is, he was very easy to work with & he took my mind away from the music & the clinking of the glasses game because I knew that he totally had it under control. He was also very accommodating, meeting us whenever we asked or emailing me back very quickly after I would send something.

He acts more as a wedding planner then a D.J, he prepared a game for us for our glass clinking where he would draw a table name once the clinking started & would come up with a task that the table had to complete w/in 20 seconds & if they did then we would kiss & if they didn't then Jeff would make them do something. The game was a huge success & we had so many laughs with the tasks that he had thought of. He asked us to give him a list of tables to be nice to & another one with tables that he could embarrass & he stuck to the list which I thought showed a lot of respect to us & our wishes.

I would hire him again in a heartbeat!

My husband (it's exciting to be able to use that word!!) is a wedding photographer so we have seen a lot of D.J's & I know that Jeff is an excellent choice.

We are still hearing comments from people on how good our D.J. was, he really blew people away. The comments have been coming from all sorts of people...our friends, my grandparents & our parents, so I think it shows that he connects with all sorts of people.

Arranging your wedding day from the other side of the planet is an adventure on it's own. Most of your advice comes from information on the 'super highway', tourist advice bureaux's, or if you are lucky long lost friends and relatives that you never knew you had. No matter how much effort you put in, there will always be an amount of 'luck' when you have never visited a location or witnessed the service you wish to hire. That was exactly our situation when Jeff Hay was recommended to us.

Jeff arranged all of the music for us on our big day. I could give you my thoughts about the services of DJ HayMaker, but my good friend Keith said the following at the end of our night...

'Being a proud father, I never thought I would attend a better wedding than my eldest son's. But this day has surpassed it.'

Now Jeff was not responsible for everything, but he did play a very big part in the day. I can't recommend him high enough. For a close friend to say that our wedding was better than his own son's is probably the highest praise I can think of. Jeff put in a lot of ground work before the wedding, which in hindsight was a very clever thing to do. It was as though he had known his audience for years. I am sure that if he was living here in London, he would never have to advertise!

Our wedding had many bumps along the road and I am very cautious about references now, but Jeff is the one reference I will give hands down from all of the businesses that participated in our wedding. He is by far a high-end committed professional with a down to earth enthusiastic personality; it doesn’t get better than that!

I never understood how important the role of the DJ was until after our wedding. I spent much more time in choosing the photographer, flowers, etc than the DJ and above our actual ceremony... the DJ was what people talked about. They were so impressed and kept making comments about 'how great it was that we have a friend that is a DJ' and couldn’t believe when we told them we had only just met him a few months prior. He had our guests entertained with the perfect amount of interaction, the best dance music and games that left us with a lifetime of knowing what a great time all of our guests had that evening...for that we have endless appreciation. It 's beyond words as people have to understand from experience your enthusiasium for your love of being a DJ.

From the costumes and wigs for dance songs, he had our groomsmen doing the YMCA in hats and wigs, everyone loved that. He did a quiz with our guests before our arrival where he handed out the 10 question quiz about us and each table filled it out and then he did the answers in a very humorous way and gave out fun joke gifts to the table that won. For our kiss and clink game, we had previously given him a list of quests couples names and he told the crowd he would randomly draw, although we had specific guests who we knew would want to participate and he would pull a couple's name and they would have to kiss in which ever fashion they like and we had to copy that kiss, it got quite creative and was so much fun and perfectly interactive between our plated dinner service.

If you chose Jeff to be your wedding DJ, then check that off the to do list and think about it no more. He was the least amount of worry and by far had the greatest outcome! We were so happy for that after all we had been through with wedding woes. In fact my Maid of Honor has hired him for their upcoming May wedding...

We are really looking forward to seeing him in action there!

My husband and I were referred to Jeff Hay from numerous wedding type businesses in Kelowna. The great recommendations told to us were accurate! From the very first phone call we made to Jeff he was was very personable, very professional, very creative, and he gave us lots of advice and ideas for our wedding reception held at the Harvest Golf Club. My husband and I ended up taking all of the advice he gave, and all of his ideas too! Jeff was always very prompt in returning our emails and phone calls (long distance to California), and although I was a stressed bride I felt very confident in Jeff's ability as a dj. On one visit to Kelowna, months before our wedding, Jeff took the time to meet with us at the Harvest Golf Club to get to know us better so he could get a better feel for the kind of atmosphere we wanted at our reception. My husband and I live in Edmonton, AB so planning a wedding in Kelowna was a bit of a challenge. When it came time to finding a DJ, Jeff was referred to us and he worked out awesome. I am a little particular as are all brides and I want different 'styles' of music to be played throughout the whole day from the ceremony to the reception. Jeff was great with this, very helpful. I am a bit musically challenged so his ideas were a wonderful help. Even as far as getting little games going with my guest during dinner. He just brought a lot of fun and energy to the evening. When it came time to party he defiantly put my mind at ease as he was excellent at grabbing the crowds attention and getting everyone up and dancing. His selection of music was great - a little bit of everything for everyone. Another thing, if you don't have an MC, I would defiantly recommend using Jeff, he is great with the mic. In all Jeff was a wonderful help and lots of fun I would defiantly recommend him to anyone and would certainly use him again. Thanks Jeff!!!!

Jeff calls himself a DJ but he is much more than that. For our wedding, Jeff acted as a wedding planner, an MC and a DJ. He went well beyond the call of duty in helping us plan both our ceremony and reception. Jeff's planning worksheets were extremely useful in helping us put together a timeline for our day and his music suggestions allowed us to narrow down the list of suitable songs. His familiarity with our wedding venue and his existing relationship with the staff ensured the day went smoothly. Jeff even agreed to act as our MC, a role he masterly filled.
